DUB-GEM: First drone measurement flights to test the developed technology

The technology developed within the CLIENT II project DUB-GEM to detect radioactive radiation at former mining sites with drones was tested under real conditions in October 2021. On the FONA website, the BMBF reports on the tests in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

The exploration technology installed on the drones is intended to enable rapid detection of radioactive contamination situations in the Central Asian partner countries. The aim is to prevent possible radioactive contamination along rivers as well as agricultural land at former uranium mining sites in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, which can be triggered by natural hazards. To learn more about this, please read the article on the FONA website (article in German).
