Project launch at Level-Up
The project of the Rottenburg University of Applied Sciences (HFR) and the University of Energy and Natural Resources Sunyani (UENR, Ghana) as well as other international partners could start at the beginning of December 2022 after several years of planning with a ceremonial event.
The opening took place in Sunyani, Ghana and the guests not only included the 15 project partners from Germany, Austria and Ghana, but also the Austrian ambassador Thomas Schlesinger, Dr Christian Addai Poku representing the Ministry of Education and the Regional Minister of the Bono Region, Justina Owusus-Banahene. In her speech, she emphasised the high relevance of the project for the West African region and appealed to all partners to ensure the best possible implementation.
Before the opening ceremony, the European project partners had already arrived and made good use of the time for several workshops with UENR university staff to prepare the implementation of the technological components.
Within the Level-Up project led by Prof. Dr Stefan Pelz and Prof. Dr Steffen Abele, an energy park is to be created on the UENR campus, to provide electricity, cooling and cooking gas as well as organic fertiliser from biological residues and waste materials from the region.
