BMBF Project Office "Clean Water": Panel Discussion on "Future Sustainable City
Maximilian Hallensleben, Consul for Cultural and Press Affairs at the Consulate General of Germany in Shanghai addressed the global trend of urbanization and its impact on the environment in his welcome speech.
Christian Sommer, CEO & Chairman German Centre Shanghai moderated the panel.
Fanny Hoffmann-Loss, Associate Director of gmp Architects and Shanghai Flaneur expert elaborated on the theory of urban planning and the challenges of implementing innovations for the future city already today as well the influence of cultural factors.
Nicole Umlauf, Head of BMBF-Project Office "Clean Water", Shanghai highlighted the topic of a growing water demand and limited resources. In her impulse speech, she also gave examples of solutions for a more sustainable water supply in urban areas, developed within research projects funded by the BMBF.
Manuel Scherfer 夏马努, Vice Director at Urban Development Design Group shared his experience in the design, development and integration of “Passiv Haus” and Zero-Energy concepts in urban planning, its potentials for sustainable living spaces as well as its restrictions.
Simon Berg, Director of anySCALE Shanghai presented different approaches of a human-centric shift in the design of work environments as a tool which in combination with inspiring culture creates sustainable and healthy working spaces.
After the panel discussion the more than 100 participants used the opportunity to further discuss the impulses from the panel.
