ÖkoFlussPlan kick-off in Kyrgyzstan
On 30 September 2019, the CLIENT II project ÖkoFlussPlan was officially launched. Nearly 50 German and Kyrgyz stakeholders, includingh the German Ambassador Monika Iwersen, met for the kick-off in the city of Naryn in the Tien Shan mountain range.
The project aims to preserve alluvial forests along the river Naryn and ensure the supply and use of sustainable energy resources for the local population in Kyrgyzstan. By developing alternatives to harvesting wood for energy, the project team aims to reduce the current pressure on alluvial forests. In addition, modern technologies are being put to use to produce renewable energy and to improve the efficiency of energy use.
The consortium of academic institutions, industry actors, and public authorities is headed by Prof. Dr. Bernd Cyffka (Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt).
