At the end of September a team from the University of Augsburg and the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) met in Ghana to install automatic weather stations  for the collection of meteorological data at the EnerSHelF project's three pilot sites.

Within the project, the two partners are working together on Work Package 3.2 under the leadership of University of Augsburg to collect and evaluate in-situ climate data. The aim of the work package is to forecast the most important meteorological variables for the production and consumption of solar electricity at the field sites. WASCAL acts as an interface between the EnerSHelF project teams in Germany and local actors, for example the Ghana Meteorological Agency. They are also responsible for technical support in the collection and processing of observation data from local observation networks. The installation of the automatic weather stations at the three field sites took place over a period of 14 days. The field trip programme included close co-operation with the local authorities, securing materials and construction works, as well as the installation of sensors and testing of the installed equipment.
