The German-Vietnamese Science Day (GVSD) will take place in Da Nang, Vietnam on 26 to 27 April 2023.

The conference is jointly organised by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).

It will bring together scientists and delegates from both ministries, representatives from politics, business, administration, and associations to exchange views on current research and opportunities in German-Vietnamese science, technology and innovation (STI).  Disciplinary, inter- and transdisciplinary formats offer the opportunity for interesting exchange and networking.

On day 1, several workshops on different topics will enable exchange with experts from both countries. Important insights will be shared and recommendations for addressing challenges in the respective thematic areas will be developed. Scientists from CLIENT projects will be actively involved, e.g. CAMaRSEC, DECIDER, Drought-ADAPT, OrganoRice, SHRIMPS, ViWaT, AquaViet.

Day 2 aims to raise awareness among different groups: On the one hand, policy makers, local administration and other stakeholders will be informed about best practices and the needs of science. On the other hand, science and industry will learn about the broader policy landscape, strategic objectives and upcoming funding opportunities through cross-dialogues and presentations.

The expected outcomes are:

- Promotion of German and Vietnamese cooperation opportunities in the fields of science, technology and innovation (STI) and higher education (HEI) as well as funding opportunities.

- Elaboration and discussion of the needs for future research, calls for proposals and other cooperation activities.

- Examples of German-Vietnamese research and higher education-science-industry cooperation and their success factors and experiences.
