In the resource efficiency and circular economy subject area, projects are funded which develop innovations for closing material cycles, for sustainable extraction of raw materials and for resource efficiency and a resource-efficient circular economy. The focus is on Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Vietnam, Indonesia and South America, especially Brazil, Chile and Peru.

Key topics in this area include sustainable technologies and services in the areas of:

  • Innovations for increasing resource productivity
  • Sustainable resource development and management
  • Increase in resource efficiency (raw materials)
  • Substitution of critical resources
  • Closing of material cycles and recycling
  • Establishment of a resource efficient circular economy and
  • Sustainable extraction of resources or directly related aspects of sustainable land/water management
