Natural hazards
The focal area of natural risks includes projects, multi-risk analyses and risk assessments against the backdrop of urbanisation and vulnerability assessments of earthquake-prone areas as well as areas affected by flooding or mass movements/landslides. Regional focal points are in Central and Central Asia, southeast Asia and the Andean region.
Research and development projects are funded in the areas of:
- Multi-risk analyses taking into account cascade effects in natural and anthropogenic systems
- Risk assessment against the backdrop of urbanisation and the involvement of remote sensing and geological engineering expertise
- Vulnerability assessment of earthquake-prone areas as well as areas affected by flooding or mass movements/landslides
